About Jovraken

A small site about free mobile puzzle games, written by one person in Canada. It compares what games actually ask of you, and it is now also home to a game of our own.

Sweet Run: the runner in mid-jump between two cake platforms above candy mountains
In development

We have a game we want to show you

It is called Sweet Run: a one-button runner through a world of cake platforms, lollipop trees and candy mountains. You jump, you collect treats, you try to beat your own record.

It is not finished. What you can play today is an early build, and it will keep changing as we work on it. We are putting it on the site anyway, because a game only gets better once people play it.

Where the game is right now

Already playable

  • One-button controls: tap to jump, hold for a higher jump, tap again in the air for a double jump.
  • Treats worth 50 points each, and a 300-point combo for three in a row.
  • Gaps, candy spikes and grumpy mushrooms that end the run.
  • A pace that keeps rising for about a minute and a half.
  • A best score kept in your browser, and a pause whenever you look away.

Still being worked on

  • Sound. The build is silent for now.
  • More kinds of hazards and treats, so long runs stay surprising.
  • Tuning of speed and gap sizes, which is where most of the feel lives.
  • How it handles on small phones held in one hand.

How it plays, in detail, is on the front page.

Tell us what you think of it

Feedback on an unfinished game is the most useful mail this site gets. Write to [email protected] and, if you can, include three things: the device and browser you played on, the score you reached, and the moment that felt unfair or confusing. “I died at the third gap and did not see why” is worth more to us than a rating.

What the rest of the site is for

Most of Jovraken is about free match-three games on Android, read side by side. The aim is to show what a board actually asks of you, what the store listing declares, and what the game does to keep you coming back, so you can pick the one that suits the amount of patience you have.

Store facts, such as the developer, an advertising label or in-app purchases, are read from the Canadian Google Play listing and always carry the date they were checked. A listing can change with any update, so the date matters as much as the fact. Everything else, like how quickly obstacles arrive or how a meta layer pulls you back, is our reading of the games and is written as such.
